How to Change Froyo or Gingerbread for Android

How to Change Froyo or Gingerbread for Android
Who Uses Which Version of Android?

When Android first came out, it was with version 1.5, nicknamed ‘Cupcake.’ These days, only 4.7% of all Android users are still using that version, and the follow on, version 1.6 or ‘Donut’ is not doing too well either, with only 7.9%.

Android 2.1, also known as ‘Éclair’ may be newer, but it has still only managed to retain 35.2% of all Android customers, and that figure is dropping fast.

The vast majority of Android users these days are, in fact, using Froyo, or Android 2.2. A whopping 51.8 percent of the users of Android devices are still using Froyo – mainly because it is the operating system that most of these devices are sold with. As for the latest version of Android, known as ‘Gingerbread,’ or 2.3, there are only 0.4% of all Android users who have already made the switch. How to Change Froyo or Gingerbread for Android

How to Get Gingerbread. How to Change Froyo or Gingerbread for Android

For now, there is probably no big rush to get Gingerbread on your Android phone. After all, Froyo was only released in May of 2010, and Gingerbread was officially launched in December of 2010, so both are pretty current.

The truth is that Gingerbread is being rolled out at different times on different phones, and with different carriers. Some phones, like the Nexus S, are being shipped with Android 2.3 already installed, but for the rest of us, it is going to be a matter of wait and see. There is also no official word yet whether everyone who has an existing Android phone will get the upgrade.

What is New in Gingerbread?

The list of improvements to the Android platform are impressive, and if the phones live up to the promises that Google has made about Gingerbread, then they’re going to be mighty fun to use. Some of the improvements Google has promised include:

Faster speeds, both online and off.
Better power management, which means a longer battery life.
Improved application management, which allows for better speed, and improved battery life.
An updated interface, with a new color scheme, redesigned keyboard, quick and easy cut and paste and more.
Improved download management, and better file management.
A whole lot of new camera tools and applications that allow easier use of front and rear cameras.
Internet calling, using SIP technology, which means lower costs (although this one is up to carriers.)
NFC or Near Field Communication, a new technology that allows super easy communication between compatible devices.
Sensors galore, and support for even bigger screens.
Basically, with Gingerbread, Google and its community of developers have taken everything that worked well on previous models, and made it better. So if you are an Android user, be sure to check the news to find out when you can get your hands on the latest Android – it is definitely an improvement on an already great platform. selective-twitter-fb

There are a few ways to pipe your Twitter status updates right into Facebook, avoiding the need to double post items or spend a ton of time maintaining a dual-life on both networks.

Twitter to Facebook – This Facebook app simply sends all your Twitter updates right into Facebook as status updates with one important exception: @reply tweets will not appear.

Selective Twitter – If you’re looking for more manual control over exactly which Twitter updates make it over to Facebook, you might want to try this app instead. It only sends tweets at Facebook status updates if you include the hashtag #fb at the end of your message.

Twitter clients – Once you’ve set up either of the above Facebook apps to pipe Twitter into Facebook, you can of course use any desktop or mobile Twitter client to continue updating your Facebook status as well. How to Update Facebook from Twitter 1 Step Easy Way

Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread 2.3 Update

Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread 2.3 Update. After a suspended update to Android 2.3, Samsung has finally released (this time for real) Gingerbread to its Galaxy S i9000 handset. Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread 2.3 Update

The update first leaked out back in March. By mid-April, the 2.3.3 update came out in Europe but was then suspended due to some bugs in the release.

By first week of June, Gingerbread updates started rolling out in parts of Asia (Hong Kong got theirs around May 31 or June 1).

Don’t know which exact date the Philippines got Gingerbread but was able to update my Galaxy S yesterday without any problems. Just for up Samsung Kies (need to download new and install version and un-install old one) and get the updates rolling. Samsung Galaxy S Gingerbread 2.3 Update

Updated mine last June 8. Noticeable changes are the new look of the notifications area, better copy and paste (thanks to Gingerbread), and performance improvements especially when it comes to updating multiple apps simultaneously (less to no lags/FC).

Additionally, in Settings -> About Phone you will see “Software Update” menu as the first item in the list. Unfortunately, the service is not yet available for our country.

You can also add a portrait photo, which will be shown throughout Tumblr when you write a post or like/reblog. Additionally, you can edit your username for your Tumblr domain or add a custom domain of your own.
The next button, Theme, allows you to select one of the many free templates from Tumblr. You can also visit more Tumblr themes underneath by selecting Browse more themes. If you prefer to design your blog yourself, you can select Use Custom HTML.3One finished, click Update Preview to see how it looks like. Once happy, you can then click save button on the right. To further enhance your theme, the Appearance button may allow you to make further changes such as the color scheme for your blog.
The Services button can connect with programs such as Facebook and Twitter so that you can share your posts there. Finally, the Advanced button allows extra features such as the number of posts visible per page to be managed on your blog.
Step 5: Socialize with Tumblr
You can see lots of people's posts through the Popular page. A live streaming of people's posts from images to quotes will appear seamlessly. You can click a image or post and it will directly take you to the person's post page where you can like, reblog or become friends with the tumblr.
Becoming friends with users is easy. You can either search for users using the search bar at the top or using the Popular page to find other users. You may find that people find you as if you post something interesting, you will gain views.
Your tumblarity is how much you participate with Tumblr and is based on people liking, reblogging and becoming friends with you. The higher the tumblarity you are, the better your blog is. You can visit your tumblarity by clicking on the Dashboard, then on the sidebar where it lists your tumblarity. Additionally, you can see all the people that are following you and who you are friends with as well as seeing how you rank in the world (in the top 50,000) and locally.4

    How to enable Facebook Timeline?

Facebook Timeline -the new feature of Facebook, which includes archives that enables users to browse their past contents, photos, statuses and other activities through a timeline.

Can't wait to do it? So these are the following steps you need to do how to enable Facebook Timeline.

    1. Log into Facebook

    2. Type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result and click Allow.

    3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)

    4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.

    5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page

    6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.

Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”

    7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings

    8. Wait 2-3 minutes

    9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page and this is how to enable Facebook Timeline.

    Enjoy!~
